When Life Gives you Lemons, Lemonade

Is it just me or does anyone else feel like their lives at times is just one big movie? Sometimes it’s good, sometimes it’s bad, like really bad. At times it’s a comedy, then a drama, maybe a psychological thriller, a horror and somehow weirdly a foreign film 😂.  Have you ever felt that no matter what movie is playing out at the time you feel that this somehow is the end and you didn’t even get a happy ending (no pun intended)? Well, there’s this quote that I heard on TV maybe in a movie or a show I was watching or maybe I read it on Dove Chocolate wrapper that goes like this, “If you’re not happy, then this isn’t the end.” I absolutely LOVE this quote! It’s so simple and yet full of hope and aspiration. Or at least that’s how it made me feel. 

The Bounce Back: Hindsight's 20/20

   In this edition of Bounce Back, a segment where I share a financial misstep and what steps were taken to correct it, I will be discussing Student Loan Employer Pay Back Programs. The opportunity to have my job pay back a portion of student loans has arisen twice in my career. Once in 2015 and again in 2017. Both times I opted not to apply, and while the first time not applying turned out to be a blessing in disguise ( I’ll explain in a little ) the second turned out to be another L I’d take and have to bounce back from.

We all take L’s. Whether it’s paying $250 to have a tooth pulled because at the time paying $16 a paycheck for dental insurance just didn’t seem worth it. Or losing money on that exciting new multi-marketing business opportunity which now seems eerily similar to a  pyramid scheme. Or blowing your savings on that new gadget that is now in a drawer because a newer better version just came out. Or spending hundreds of dollars a year on a gym membership that you were convinced you were going to use but haven’t been to in months. Yea, it stings but now what?
